"A Raisin in the Sun"

A Raisin in the Sun is a Black Arts Movement classic. Written by Lorraine Hansberry during the 1950s. Hansberry captures the emotions and family dynamic of the Youngers. A Black family living in Chicago who attempts to improve their living conditions after receiving an insurance payout from the fathers death.

New York Drama Critics' Circle named it the best play of 1959.


Black Power Theatre, Inc. is pleased to present their rendition of this classic during 2019 Kwanzaa celebration.
